　　In an address to the 2010 Global City Informatization Forum, China's Minister of Science and Technology Wan Gang said the priority for information technology service will be given to rural areas. "The 'digital gap' between urban and rural China needs to be further bridged," he said。

　　在2010全球城市信息化论坛上，科技部部长万钢在演讲中称将优先为农村地区提供信息科技服务。他说：“中国需要进一步消除城乡间的‘数字鸿沟’。”

　　在上面的报道中，digital gap就是“数字鸿沟”，又称为“信息鸿沟”，也可以用digital divide来表示，指信息富有者和信息贫困者之间的鸿沟。消除数字鸿沟有助于缩小rural-urban divide(城乡差距)。

　　中国的城乡之间存在着日益扩大的rural-urban income gap(城乡收入差距)，大城市中的wealth gap(贫富差距)问题也很严重。中国如今涌现出越来越多的super rich(富豪)，但是还是有许多人挣扎在poverty line(贫困线)上。Rich second generation(富二代)和poor second generation(贫二代)的差异在大都市尤其明显。
